The move is on

I put my coffee down and when I went back to it I was told it was on my desk... my new desk in the new building.

Since 15th August the movers have been crawling all over us - if you were to sit in a box they'd find a space for you over by. Machines, computers, desks, filing cabinets everything's being installed in its new home - all to be ready by Monday!

They keep reassuring me that everything will be fine I just wish I knew where my golf clubs were!

Christie Timber Services, is launching an ambitious expansion programme which will see the business move to a £1.5m state-of-the-art new manufacturing facility.

We've grown significantly since our formation 13 years ago, and the three rented buildings at New Victoria Sawmills make logistics difficult and they're just not big enough. We have to grow so we're relocating to new purpose built premises on a site next to our current operation.

The 32,700 sq ft manufacturing facility will enable us to expand our market share of the Scottish and UK timber market by better penetration and by winning new markets for existing and new products. Not only that the expansion programme will safeguard more than 28 jobs and is expected to generate up to 12 new positions in the timber and forestry sector in coming years.

Jim Harwood, our managing director, said: “Being well over twice the size of our existing sawmill, these new premises will unlock almost unlimited potential for expansion and further employment.

“The move is an essential part of our future strategy.  The relocation to larger, modern premises with improved manufacturing facilities and increased capacity will provide the means to expand sales and secure the long term growth and future of the business.”
